Whilst Ivan Gough, Feenixpawl and Georgi Kay’s nomination in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical award category was unfortunately beaten out on the night, Gotye did have better ‘luck’, taking home three awards at the recent Grammy awards in the US.
The APRA Ambassador and all-round nice guy Wally de Backer aka Gotye made music history, taking out Record Of The Year (the first Australian to win the award since Olivia Newton-John in 1975), the Best Pop Duo category with Kimbra, and the Best Alternative Music Album award.
APRA|AMCOS CEO Brett Cottle commented, “To bridge the gap between community and commercial radio in Australia and come out on top of the world is an amazing achievement.” Indeed.
